Last Updated: October 22, 2023

At Margot Georgia, we aim to provide a seamless and secure payment experience for our customers. Please review our payment policy to understand the accepted payment methods and how our business processes electronic transactions.

Accepted Payment Methods

  1. Debit Cards: We accept debit cards attached to bank accounts.
  2. Credit Cards: We accept all major credit cards, including VISA, Mastercard, American Express (AMEX), UnionPay and Japan Credit Bureau (JCB).
  3. Shop Pay: Our customers can expedite their purchases by securely saving their shipping and payment details using Shop Pay, powered by Shopify.
  4. Digital Wallet Payments: We accept Apple Pay and Google Pay.

How Our Business Processes Transactions Electronically

  1. Opening Payment Gateway: The payment process begins when a customer adds items to their shopping cart, proceeds to checkout, and enters their payment information.
  2. Encrypted Payment Details: Your payment information is sent securely and encrypted to the payment processor via a secure payment gateway. The payment gateway and your chosen payment service provider handle this technical aspect.
  3. Authorisation or Rejection: Upon receiving the encrypted payment information, the payment information, the payment processor checks for validity. This involves confirming whether the customer has sufficient funds or credit for the transaction, verifying the accuracy of the information, and addressing any potential fraud concerns. If the information is valid, the payment processor authorises the transaction. If there are issues, such as a typo or insufficient funds, the payment is rejected.
  4. Notification of Authorisation or Refusal: The payment processor informs the payment gateway of whether the transaction has been authorised or refused. This information is relayed back to the website, allowing the customer to see the results.
  5. Crediting the Merchant Account: If the online payment is authorised, the payment processor credits the merchant account with the funds from the customer (or their creditor). The customer (or creditor) is charged for the purchase, which will appear as a pending charge on their credit card or debit statement. The merchant (Margot Georgia) is then ready to proceed with the order fulfillment and shipping.

This entire five-step process, along with any subtasks or exceptions, typically occurs in a matter of seconds.  When it operates smoothly, it is nearly invisible to both the customer and our business, ensuring a seamless e-commerce experience.

Tokenisation

To enhance security, we employ tokenisation when customers make payments. Tokenisation creates a unique identifier for their payment information, safeguarding it from data theft. This also enables us to securely save customer information for faster checkouts in the future, providing an enhanced shopping experience.

Definitions

  • Payment Gateway: A payment gateway serves as the portal for collecting and verifying credit card information, essentially acting as the checkout page for online stores.
  • Payment Processor: The payment processor is the vendor responsible for verifying the availability of funds and approving or rejecting purchases.
  • Tokenisation: Tokenisation is the process of replacing sensitive payment information with a unique set of characters, known as a token, to enhance security.

Cancellation of Transactions

If a customer cancels a transaction, the refund process varies depending on the payment method. Refunds are typically labelled as “Pending” for up to 2 business days, and it may take up to 10 business days for your customer to receive the refunded amount. If more than 15 business days have passed since we approved your return, please contact up at info@margotgeorgia.com for further assistance.

Thank you for choosing Margot Georgia for your shopping needs. If you have any questions or concerns regarding our payment policy, please do not hesitate to contact us.
